Get Glitter App Now Live in Spring Arts

We had three of our Glitter cleaners out on Spring Garden on Tuesday and Wednesday to tidy up your blocks.

As expected, the first cleaning is always the hardest. There are a few places along the stretch that I know our cleaners are eager to return to next week to get to 100%. I think the end-of-next week will give you the best indication of how we hope to regularly maintain the blocks.

I wanted to follow-up on a few items:

  • We noted the areas where trash is likely blowing in from adjacent streets. We'll be paying attention to this over time to see how much they continue to affect our maintained areas on Spring Garden St.

  • We plan to do our best to maintain the medians, although there are a few places where they are not accessible via a crosswalk. I've asked cleaners to not access these areas for safety reasons.

  • Our primary cleanup focus will remain trash, recycling, and litter. However, I suspect we will start to have some additional time to do light weeding and other sweeping. We can also discuss adding this permanently as an add-on service in the future if that's desired.

  • We are coordinating getting a visible and branded vest for every cleaner. These are in production right now and we hope to have them distributed soon.

  • As of today, all cleaners are provided PPE masks, puncture-resistant gloves, a trash picker, and lightweight and heavy-duty trash bags.

We snapped some before and after photos (below) so you can see the improvement. In the meantime, we hope you and your neighbors enjoy the block refresh!

Thank you for your continued support of a cleaner and safer Philly.
