A Stroll through The Reading Viaduct

What a perfect day to tour the hidden gems of your neighborhood!  Today we explored the long-forgotten Reading Viaduct, a once-mighty relic of our proud industrial past (when Philadelphia was known as the “Workshop of the World” and most of that work occurred right here in the hood!).  Our host was Michael Garden, one of the main proponents of The Friends of the Rail Park, who are helping turn this overlooked stretch of greenery hidden above the streets into one of the most incredible urban parks in the city…or anywhere.  Please enjoy these photos as a snapshot of today and a window into an exciting tomorrow.viaducttourpt2-1336viaducttourpt2-1151viaducttourpt2-1211viaducttourpt2-1281
